ReDBox 1.6.1 provides facilities for researchers to define data management plans and self-submit collection information. In this session Duncan will demonstrate how this works out of the box and discuss how it can be customised for your organisation.

1. Data management planning tool (DMPT; around 45 fields, including 10 pre-filled)
2. Researcher self-submission tool (add a collection record; around 35 fields including 15 from DMPT)
3. Researcher dashboard, that allows a researcher to share DMPTs will colleagues and project participants.

The University of Western Sydney has worked closely with the University of Newcastle to refine the ways in which systems can be integrated with ReDBox/Mint. Toby's thoughtful insights into the pros and cons of such collaborations are sure to be of considerable interest.

Research Data Librarian, Cathy Miller, will be taking us on a tour of DataConnect. DataConnect is a visible, institution-wide key feature of University of Adelaide's approach to research data management, where all researchers have access to an online form for self-registration of their datasets and data collections.

Cathy will explain why simplifying the functionality of DataConnect to the three concepts: Capture, Cite and Connect, is and has been important in promoting the new system and growing a culture that embraces University research data management tools and services.

Following Carolyn Hulsbergen’s presentation into strategies for managing change, La Trobe University’s Institutional Repository Team Leader, Roderick Sadler has some profound insights into the impact of the university’s Metadata Stores Project and the cultural changes unleashed as the University Library becomes a publisher for the first time. He will discuss how La Trobe is helping researchers think about their data as something that can be published and how exposing research data is part of claiming the territory and gaining advantage for researchers as well as for the University.

Roderick will be explaining how La Trobe is future-proofing the architecture of its Metadata Store by using unique and durable identifiers as well as how they are using ReDBox to massage and then push data to their Vital Repository.

La Trobe’s Digital Infrastructure Manager, Simon Huggard and Research Data Co-ordinator, Charlie Ambrose will also be on hand to answer questions and expand on the significance of their project.

1. First to submit Final Report for a Metadata Stores project is the University of Queensland's UQ Data Collections Registry (UQ-DCR) project - congratulations to Project Manager, Hoylen Sue!
2. Data surgeries/clinics will go into recess for Easter but resume on the 10th April 2013 (usual time). On the 17th April 2013, we have tentatively booked Carolyn Hulsbergen to talk about Change Management at Deakin University;
3. Round table: Optional Deliverables and delays on Wednesday 10th April 2013 will be a discussion to clarify any flow-on effects from release delay to ReDBox 1.6;
4. For those that missed the terrific presentations by Marianne Brown, Jon Hurn & Lynn Davies, and Maude Francis, recordings were successful and should be available soon after Easter.

Accurate and up-to-date researcher profiles require complex back-end systems and researcher enthusiasm. The efforts of the remarkable Marianne Brown are turning the spotlight on James Cook University (JCU). Marianne will be sharing her experiences with developing JCU's soon to be launched Research Portfolio - a system for building research profiles. She will also explain how JCU has approached the challenges of facilitating researcher self-deposit.

Marianne has been bulk importing data collections from a number of software services by handcrafting one record and using it as a template for the rest. On the 1st of March she successfully pushed 1,498 collections records related to the Edgar service to Research Data Australia [see video about Edgar].

1. Alight from your helicopter/cab/limousine/personnel carrier in Registry Road, by the bus zone.

2. Turn to face the flagpoles, and walk (NW) towards the large silver and black building (mind the buses!).

3. Take the short staircase down to the footbridge. (If you are afraid of footbridges, internal staircases, or lifts, continue to follow the external staircases down and around to the left behind the building.)

4. Cross the footbridge and continue along through some double glass doors, to the lifts/stairs.

5. Take the lifts/stairs down to Level 1, where you will find the ReDBox Registration Desk, and all your friends.
